Chapter Seven

Lessons

N ’Keal pulled up to Aria’s house, something felt off to him the minute he parked his car. He looked around to make sure nothing was out of place before he grabbed his gun and tucked it away in his pants.

Taking the steps two at a time, he got to Aria’s door and knocked. He had a key but he didn’t want her to think that anything was up so he never used it. It was more so for his son’s sake than his own.

“She knew I was fucking coming.” N’Keal fussed. He was already pissed because he had to beat Drake’s ass again and Kalani aggravated him, so Aria being stupid right now was a lot for him. He looked around at the two empty glasses and the empty bottles of wine. “If this bitch in here passed out and my baby ain’t being taken care of, I’m going the fuck off.”

He raised his hand to knock again and the neighbor opened her door. When her eyes met his, she couldn’t believe that Aria had such handsome men coming by to see her. Every time she turned around, it was a different man at her door and they all were fine as hell.

“Hey, I don’t know what’s going on over there. About an hour ago, I heard a bunch of yelling and fighting then it went silent, right before the baby started to cry. He cried for a solid hour before he finally stopped. I just called the police. I’ve been knocking on the door for a while and she never came. That other sexy man, kinda looks like you without the dreads and the girl that hangs out over here all the time were here but once all the commotion started, they both left.”

“Was she out here?”

“Yeah they were out here, being all ghetto per usual.” She rolled her eyes in the back of the head. “I’ve asked them I don’t know how many times to keep it quiet, but they just curse me out and continue to do what they want to do.”

N’Keal fished around in his pocket for his keys, fumbling with them he dropped them on the ground. He could hear the sirens in the distance as put the key in the door and opened it. Frantically searching the house for his son, his heart was thumping out of his chest and he felt like he couldn’t breathe.

“Aria!” he called out as he headed for the back of the house. When he got to the kitchen he froze as fear slithered its way into his heart.

There his son was lying face down in a puddle of blood. Tears pooled in his eyes as he leaned down to see if his son had a pulse, when he touched him Aries eyes popped open and he began to cry again.

“Come here man.” He lifted his son up while following the flow of the blood. When his eyes landed on Aria, he headed in her direction. “Fuck!”

“I heard the fighting and crying from in the back.
